Working in Partnership with the Multidisciplinary Team
Our school is supported by a large team of health professionals. These include physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists. We also have visiting teachers for the hearing impaired, visually impaired and dual sensory impaired.
All of these professionals work together with the school staff to carry out assessments of pupils in a variety of areas such as communication, eating and drinking, toileting, independence skills and mobility. From these assessments the team works with school staff to set targets and develop programmes for the pupils. This work generally takes place within classes, although where appropriate, staff sometimes withdraw children for individual work. The multidisciplinary team work alongside school staff to ensure that pupils’ programmes are delivered within the school day.
